A backdoor straight draw occurs when a player needs two specific consecutive cards (on the turn and river) to complete a straight. It is significantly less likely than a normal eight-out straight draw, having only about 5% probability of completing. Like the backdoor flush, it is considered additional equity when evaluating hand strength.
