Chip-dumping is a specific form of cheating where a player deliberately loses their chips to an accomplice at the table. In tournaments, this practice concentrates chips in one player, giving them an unfair competitive advantage. In online cash games, it can covertly transfer money between accounts. Chip-dumping is detected when a player consistently makes strategically inexplicable calls or raises, especially when the same opponent repeatedly receives the chips. It is one of the most severely punished forms of cheating in poker, resulting in permanent bans and possible legal action.
