Overbluffing occurs when a player includes bluffs in excess of the proportion dictated by their value hands and bet sizing alpha, violating equilibrium balance. An opponent who identifies overbluffing can exploit it by calling at frequencies higher than MDF, capturing extra EV from all excess bluffs. Overbluffing is common among players who overestimate fold equity or fail to track their betting range composition. In solver analysis, overbluffing is detected when bet frequency exceeds equilibrium, particularly in river spots with large sizings.
