A straight is a hand formed by five cards with consecutive values, regardless of suit, such as 5-6-7-8-9. The lowest straight is A-2-3-4-5 (called the wheel) and the highest is 10-J-Q-K-A (broadway). The ace can function as either a high or low card in a straight. Straights are beaten by flushes, full houses, four of a kind, and straight flushes.
